TDC Sponsors 2nd Annual National Work Readiness Credential Program Employment Seminar

October 2009 Issue
The Development Corporation (TDC) is honored to be the sponsor of the 2nd Annual Champlain Valley Educational Services (CVES) National Work Readiness Credential Preparation Program (NWRCPP) Employment Seminar. The seminar, to be held on December 2, 2009, will give NWRCPP participants the opportunity to meet with local businesses and take part in a brief job interview with companies that have job openings.
The original NWRC Pilot Program was started in early 2009 with financial support from TDC and has emerged as a regular course offering at CV-TEC. The program provides job seekers entering or re-entering the workforce with the requisite skill-sets to succeed in entry-level work. Additionally, the NWRCPP prepares candidates for future training and workplace demands that will impact their employment success. The Adult Literacy Program of CV-TEC, a division of CVES, created a core curriculum that encourages each participant’s professional growth and prepares them to take the NWRC exam. The program’s success has been recognized by The New York State Department of Education which plans to implement the locally developed curriculum in eleven Literacy Zones statewide.
“The NWRCP program was created to prepare job seekers to pass the National Work Readiness Credential along with refining the skills necessary to find meaningful employment in our community. The strength of the program is the community partnerships built between education, business, and workforce development which allows for candidates to enter the job market with support and guidance from each sector. Each partner brings a critical component of success and we are grateful for their commitment and support of this program,” said Michele Armani, Interim Coordinator of the Family Welcome Center CV-TEC.
TDC encourages companies to participate in the Employment Seminar even if they are not presently hiring new employees. It is a great way to highlight your business in the community and to meet the local workforce. Any companies wishing to participate can contact Michele Armani at (518) 561-0430, Ext. 3085.
