The Development Corporation Welcomes "Green Tech" Manufacturer APG-Neuros to its Banker Road Industrial Park

November 2009 Issue
The Development Corporation, Clinton County New York is pleased to announce the expansion of APG-Neuros to its Banker Road Industrial Park, located in Plattsburgh, NY.
APG-Neuros is a joint-venture technology development company formed by Quebec-based Aviation and Power Group (APG) and South Korea-based Neuros Company. The company manufactures high-efficiency "green-tech" industrial turbo blowers which are applied in industrial aeration processes and most commonly used in municipal waste-water treatment systems. What makes this turbo blower unique, according to APG-Neuros, is its high-speed motor design and the use of air bearings, which eliminate the need for a gearbox or lubrication system. The NX & VX series turbo blowers are oil-free, energy efficient and create low noise and vibration levels. The company also notes, when compared to older technology, the NX and VX turbo series can save users anywhere from 30 to 50 percent of the current blower's operating costs.
On October 1, 2009, the company signed a three (3) year lease with TDC to occupy 60,000 sq. ft. at 160 Banker Road and will begin making substantial improvements to the facility in order to accommodate operational needs. APG-Neuros expects to hire 14 employees initially, growing to 35 employees by 2012. Local job opportunities will range from engineers and technicians to quality control personnel and assemblers. APG-Neuros also plans to contract with local vendors and fabricators for some of the turbo blower's construction materials.
Through the collaborative efforts of the Plattsburgh Regional Office of ESD and the OneWorkSource, APG-Neuros was made aware of the well-suited local workforce available to them as well as the various Empire Zone benefits they would qualify for. For its part, TDC packaged a very attractive lease with option to purchase agreement and is providing direct access to The Development Corporation's Revolving Loan Fund.
"We conducted a location search for over six months across North America and chose to locate our production facility in Plattsburgh, NY" said APG-Neuros President, Omar Hammoud. "We were attracted to Plattsburgh by their well-organized economic development programs and the excellent support we received from The Development Corporation and Empire State Development. Both agencies listened to us, understood our current needs and future growth requirements and demonstrated their strong willingness to work closely with us to address our concerns. We are very pleased with our choice of Plattsburgh. We are looking forward to being a part of the county's industrial and economic communities and to the continued future growth of our operation," stated Hammoud.
TDC President Adoré Flynn Kurtz said, "The company is a good match for Clinton County because it will provide well paying jobs for the local community while at the same time manufacturing a product that is highly sought after as municipalities strive to lower energy consumption and carbon emissions, reduce operating costs and manage wastewater treatment facilities in a more green and efficient manner."
