The Development Corporation Announces 2010 Officers and Directors

By Donald Duley

February 2010 Issue

I am honored to have been elected the new Chairperson for The Development Corporation (TDC).

This could not be a more exciting time for our county and The Development Corporation to help shape the business profile of our future.

I believe that innovative people create successful businesses, and successful businesses attract innovative people and, in turn, more successful businesses.

Sounds simple? It is and isn’t.

It is simple when you think of the quality of life, dynamic workforce and vibrant community that exists here in Clinton County already, but where do we go from here?

I think it all starts with our Board of Directors. It is not surprising that The Development Corporation has access to the most influential and innovative people in Clinton County.  Our accomplished Board is comprised of 42 of the leading members of the business community. The Development Corporation can leverage the unique professional experience and insight - including best practices and business connections - that each Director brings to the table. And, beginning this year, I have formed a new Strategic Planning Committee for the TDC under the sound leadership of Robert Smith. Bob was The Development Corporation Chairperson from 1999-2001 and has been a member of the TDC Board since 1992. This newly-created committee will help the Board make sure that The Development Corporation is well-positioned to attract and retain the businesses that make the most sense for our community long-term - and that we take full advantage of our existing workforce and various training facilities, to provide the best qualified people for the new and expanding businesses that we are attracting to our area.

It is with great pleasure that I introduce the 2010 Board of Directors of The Development Corporation:

Looking back over the accomplishments of The Development Corporation in 2009 I was indeed impressed with the vast resources The Development Corporation made available to businesses last year. The fact is that The Development Corporation, in one way or another, ‘touched’ or enhanced most of the business announcements that were well-documented in the local press last year. And I believe that it is the ‘behind the headlines’ support to companies that The Development Corporation provides that makes us so unique. Yes, TDC provides properties for lease or purchase via their three premier industrial parks, but it is TDC’s ability to ‘make things happen’ for companies that makes me the most proud.

Together, we look forward to helping companies ‘make things happen’ in the coming year. TDC
