TDC Developments: B3CG Arrives in Plattsburgh

April 2009 Issue

The Development Corporation’s newest Air Industrial Park tenant, B3CG Interconnect Inc., has moved into its completely renovated 20,000 SF production facility located at 1523 Suite 200, Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh. Keith Matott, TDC’s Facilities and Project Manager, supervised readying the space in just five weeks for B3CG’s occupancy.

B3CG Interconnect, Inc. is a supplier of original and reliable solutions for the assembly of electric cables and complex harnesses aimed at land transportation, medical equipment, electro-mechanical systems and telecommunications sectors. The establishment of this new production facility will permit B3CG to support one of its largest existing clients, Nova Bus, a division of the Volvo Group. Nova Bus took occupancy of their 136,000 square foot bus manufacturing facility on March 27, 2009 in TDC’s Banker Road Industrial Park just 2.3 miles from the new B3CG location.

The renovation included demolition and reconstruction of 3,000 square feet of offices, replacing the heating system in the production area with new energy star rated natural gas unit heaters and two heat pumps to heat and cool the new offices. Additionally, the project scope included painting the production area walls and structural columns as well as coating the floors with epoxy to enhance the work area. This, along with the new energy efficient lighting creates a comfortable atmosphere for the new workforce.

The fast-track construction project was completed by local contractors and suppliers. Luck Brothers handled the general construction work with their subcontractors Casey Electric, Brockway Mechanical, Johnson Protective Coatings and Lee Kitchen, Carpet, and Appliance. The new energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems were designed and installed by J. Hogan Refrigeration and Mechanical with customized production lighting by Plattsburgh’s Murray Electric.

Marc Brosseau, Vice President, Engineering and Business Development for B3CG said, "Normally, this kind of task takes months to be completed. I was really impressed by the performance of TDC’s Project Manager Keith Matott and his team of contractors. The quality of the work and the look of our new plant in Plattsburgh are just great."
