Plattsburgh, NY –April 16, 2009 –The Development Corporation, Clinton County New York (TDC) has launched a new statistical data center known as the Institute for Development and Economic Analysis (IDEA). The institute became an affiliate of the New York State Data Center in February 2009. TDC’s IDEA provides clients, prospects and the public with the latest data, workforce and economic information concerning Clinton County.

TDC’s IDEA offers a broad array of information and analytical services focused on the Clinton County area, including regional employment trends, economic forecasting, workforce development and demographics relating to population, education and housing. The IDEA utilizes the diverse skill-sets of the entire TDC professional staff with Erin Hynes, TDC’s Economic Developer, leading the initiative along with contracted researcher, Economist Colin L. Read, PhD. The institute has also partnered with the North Country Workforce Investment Board (WIB), led by Executive Director, Paul Grasso, to track local workforce market data. Grasso will be a contributing writer for the institute and other TDC publications.

“TDC’s IDEA was conceived out of the need to provide TDC’s clients and prospects with access to the most current and reliable data regarding economic trends and labor market information in Clinton County. We believe the analyses TDC’s IDEA develops will help companies with their key business decisions and give them a clearer understanding of what Clinton County has to offer. As an economist with SUNY Plattsburgh's School of Business and Economics, I have sought out local entities interested in regional economic development. The IDEA is both a community economic development resource and a think tank on issues relevant to Clinton County. In an effort to promote the IDEA, TDC has created a new website that will act as a portal for businesses and the public to access local data that will be updated regularly to provide the most current information possible. The IDEA will also be featured monthly in TDC’s recently launched e-newsletter and quarterly in TDC’s traditional newsletter offering readers statistical insight into the business climate and general economic health of Clinton County.
