Highways
Interstate 87 (I-87) provides immediate highway access to the entire area. Via Interstate 87 and Interstate 90 (which intersects 150 miles south of Plattsburgh), all of the northeastern United States is accessible by truck within a day's drive. Highway ramp entrances are located close to each of The Development Corporation's Industrial Parks. I-87 provides direct access to Canada just twenty miles north of Plattsburgh. The renovations to the "Champlain  --  Lacolle Port of Excellence" and Quebec's Highway 15, is transforming it into the United States' most modern northern border crossing. The federal government is investing $100 million in upgrades, with its immediate emphasis on first-rate trucking facilities, followed by major automobile lane improvements to be in place by 2008.

Deep Water Ports
The Port of Montreal (and nearby Sorel/Tracy), the Port of Albany and the Port of New York are world-class deep-water seaports, each of which has the capacity to handle loading and off-loading of large pieces of containerized parts. The Ports of Montreal and Sorel/Tracy are located within 60 miles of Plattsburgh. The Ports of Albany and New York provide alternate seaports within 150 and 300 miles, respectively. The canal system and Lake Champlain also present an opportunity for moving materials via barge directly to Plattsburgh. All three ports are open year-round. The canal systems on both the Richelieu River and Champlain Canal are closed for the deepest part of winter, an approximately three month period from late December to late March.

Air
Plattsburgh currently offers commuter service by CommutAir, a Continental Airlines affiliate, at a new passenger terminal at Plattsburgh International Airport (PBG). PBG currently also serves as an industrial aviation facility at the former U.S. Air Force Base. This facility features a nearly 12,000 foot runway.

Two international airports are located within a one-hour drive from Plattsburgh. Burlington, Vermont's airport (BTV), provides direct service to many major U.S. cities, particularly in the northeast, and excellent connecting service around the globe. Montreal Trudeau (YUL) Airport provides excellent service to Europe and around the globe, with over 100 direct weekly flights to European cities and many direct flights to destinations across the United States. Albany International Airport (ALB), in New York State's capital city, provides an alternative point of embarkation for both domestic or international flights approximately 2 hours south of Plattsburgh.

Rail
Plattsburgh is located on the main rail line for Canadian Pacific, which connects New York City to Montreal. A rail spur, which is already used for industrial purposes, runs to Plattsburgh International Airport. Canadian Pacific maintains a partnership with Canadian National (CN) rail to provide alternate rail service, if required. Passenger rail via Amtrak provides daily connections between Montreal and New York City.
